Microsoft committed in January 2020 to be carbon negative — removing more CO2 than it emits — by 2030, and to remove from the atmosphere all the carbon the company has emitted since its founding in 1975 by 2050.
“By 2030 Microsoft will be carbon negative, and by 2050 Microsoft will remove from the environment all the carbon the company has emitted either directly or by electrical consumption since it was founded in 1975.”
Pending — this status was claimed and is open to challenge during the cooldown window.
